RIP George Saville
Sadly this week the club has lost one of its TRUE characters.
As a life time supporter of the WHBC George was always the first one to put his hand up when the club needed help and these are only some of the examples.
Always prepared to help on the BBQ and making sure everything was sold with his loud voice forever yelling GET YOUR HOT DOGS now. He would never allow kids to put their own sauce on their hot dogs; he would have to put it on for them. Instead of stopping where the hot dog ended, he would continue up their arm leaving kids looking at him dumfounded!
Fund raising was one of Georges special days where he would go to the Winston Hills shopping centre and almost embarrasses people to buy raffle tickets, he always sold the most tickets.
On recruitment days George would always help and in fact recruited his son to play for the club.
Theirs a lot more you could say about George and the assistance he gave to the club but anyone involved with W.H will fondly remember George and all of the pleasure he bought to the club and its members.
His legend will live on in the club with all of its senior players fondly remembering George Saville. A true Aussie larrikin. Winston Hills Baseball Club will be a lesser place for his passing.
